Christian Education

St. John’s Lutheran Church strives to provide every member with educational opportunities to enhance and strengthen their relationship with Christ.

Sunday School for our children age 3 through Grade 6 begins at 8:45 am in the Chapel.  Pastor will lead us in the opening time of music, prayer, offering and announcements.  From there we go to our classrooms where parents can meet their child at 9:50.

For children ages 3 to 6th graders, we offer an exciting and interactive Sunday church school program called SPARK. By using a multisensory approach, each Bible story is presented in different fun and engaging ways.

On Sunday mornings, our confirmation students meet in the Confirmation Room (just past the Fellowship Hall upstairs). During this time they will study the Bible, focusing one year on the Old Testament and one year on the New Testament. In addition, students meet with Pastor Wednesday evenings in the Gathering Room to focus on Luther’s Small Catechism. is a web based curriculum that covers each of these areas using multi-sensory learning, fun, and technology.  Each student will be given their own password for this site so be sure to check it often for the latest updates and information.

Both Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening are crucial components to building relationships during this two year process of faith formation.

For our High School students, we offer both topical and biblical studies that are relevant to their interests and experiences. Grades 9-12 meet in the Youth Room each Sunday from 9:00-9:50. Topics included Bible Study, current issues, and movies. All youth are invited to join in this time of fellowship and learning.  Each month we will also meet for fun, fellowship, activities and service projects.  Click here for more information and a calendar of events.

Beginning at 9:00 am on Sundays, our Adult Bible study meets in the first floor Lounge focusing on both topical and biblical subjects.

St. John’s Lutheran offers a number of additional Christian education opportunities for youth and adults, including:

  • Confirmation classes and service projects
  • First Communion instruction (visit the Communion page for more information)
  • Vacation Bible School for all ages
  • Classes that explore what is means to be Lutheran
  • Small Group Bible Study classes

All women of St. John’s Lutheran are invited to join our Women’s Circle meeting and help us with our social projects. Our mission is to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. Through monthly Bible studies and other activities, we are committed to grow in faith and engage in social ministries to support our church, our community, and our world.  In addition to our Bible studies, WELCA is always seeking to make our community and the world a safer, healthier, and more peaceful place so God’s creation can thrive. Social ministry projects include sewing blankets and assembling health kits.
